Jeremy Harting

Dr. Jeremy Harting has performed  throughout the U.S. and Canada including concert events at the Ithaca College Winter Guitar Festival, Acadia Guitar Festival (Canada), Pennsylvania Academy of Music Guitar Festival, Milford Arts Society (CT), Yale British Arts Center, Connecticut Classical Guitar Society, New England Guitar Society, Buskirk Chumley Theater (Bloomington, IN), The Miller Center (Reading, PA), Steinman Hall (Lancaster, PA), Bailey Hall (Cornell University), Wicker Park Art Center (Chicago), and the 92nd Street Y in New York.

 

Dr. Harting graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from Ithaca College, where he received the Ford music scholarship and E.P. Johnson award.  While at Ithaca College, Jeremy spent a semester abroad in London studying at the Royal Academy of Music.  He went on to complete a Master of Music degree at Yale University and was awarded the George Lauder Greenway Fellowship and Eliot Fisk Prize.  In 2011, he earned a Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University in Bloomington.   His dissertation examines the theoretical and historical principles of the solo guitar works of Roberto Sierra.

 

Currently, Dr. Harting is an instructor in music  at Saint Joseph’s University, Eastern University, and the Blutt College House Music Program at University of Pennsylvania.  In addition, he has held teaching positions at Ithaca College, Indiana University, Yale University, Darlington Arts Center, and The Lancaster Classical Guitar Institute.  Dr. Harting is a founding member and President of the Classical Guitar Society of Lancaster.
