It was during his last ten years in Leipzig that Bach composed the Aria mit verschiedenen Veränderungen (Aria with Diverse Variations), a work that is known today as the Goldberg Variations and widely considered one of the masterworks of the classical repertoire. A contrapuntally complex work, we will perform a transcription for string trio that brings the counterpoint alive in a new way!
