When thinking about this program, we wanted to feature violin, viola and cello in different combinations playing a mix of modern and classical composers. What we created is an hour of music that takes us from Vienna to Paris to Oslo and back over the span of 100 years. A lovely work, twenty-seven year old Mozart initially gave credit for his Violin and Viola Duo to his friend Michael Haydn. Inspired by Handel, we’ll showcase the artists’ virtuosity with the famous Halvorsen Passacaglia and then return to Vienna with Beethoven’s powerful Trio in C Minor.
